Community Foundation to host 2nd Annual Leadership Through Philanthropy Event

The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty will host the 2nd Annual Leadership Through Philanthropy event on Thursday, April 26th at the Marriott Cincinnati North featuring Marvin Lewis, Cincinnati Bengals Head Coach and President of the Marvin Lewis Community Fund, as keynote speaker. The Foundation will present the Patricia F. Alderson Philanthropist of the Year Award to local philanthropists Larry and Sandy Brueshaber, as well as the Corporate Philanthropist of the Year Award to Park National Bank.

“Leadership Through Philanthropy provides an opportunity for the community to celebrate local philanthropy and honor those who make a difference through donations of time, talent and treasure,” said Foundation President & CEO, Erin Clemons.

Keynote Speaker: Marvin Lewis

Marvin Lewis has led the Cincinnati Bengals as head coach for 15 seasons and serves as President of the Marvin Lewis Community Fund. Established in 2003, the mission of the Fund is to empower youth education. Since then, more than $11.3M has been raised to fund programs and events that impact thousands of kids each year. Lewis holds the record for most wins in Bengals coaching history and has led the team to the playoffs in 4 straight seasons. In 2009, Lewis was named the Associated Press Coach of the Year as well as the Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers of America Coach of the Year. In addition to his coaching success, he has led the franchise to strengthen ties to the Cincinnati community. Coach Lewis is the first coach to receive the national Steve Patterson Award for Excellence in Sports Philanthropy in recognition of the impact of his work and the example it sets for all professional sports.

Patricia F. Alderson Philanthropist of the Year Award: Larry and Sandy Brueshaber

In celebration of local philanthropy, the Community Foundation will present the Patricia F. Alderson Philanthropist of the Year Award to local couple Larry and Sandy Brueshaber. The award, named in honor of the Foundation’s founder and Board Chair Emeritus, is presented annually to a local philanthropist who has shown exceptional dedication to improving the community through gifts time, talent, and treasure. The Brueshabers have been champions of the West Chester/Liberty community, and the surrounding area, for many years. Their vision and dedication helped launch the Community Foundation nearly 20 years ago, and they have been consistent supporters since. Sandy served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors until she reached her term-limit in 2016 and continues to volunteer on the Scholarship Committee and Grants Committee. Larry serves on the Board of Family Promise of Butler County and West Chester’s Economic Development Council, Land Use Committee, and Enterprise Zone Committee where he has been instrumental in the growth of the region. Many local organizations have benefited from their charitable giving including the Community Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of West Chester/Liberty, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Family Promise and many others.

Corporate Philanthropist of the Year: Park National Bank

New this year, the Corporate Philanthropist of the Year Award seeks to recognize an outstanding local business whose dedication to philanthropy is making a difference. The first recipient of the Corporate Philanthropist of the Year Award, Park National Bank, is an active presence in West Chester/Liberty and in the other communities in which they serve. Locally, Park National Bank supports Reach Out Lakota, Rotary Club of West Chester/Liberty, and the Community Foundation among many others. Their corporate culture is deeply rooted in the values of service and philanthropy, and Park National Bank associates are encouraged to volunteer for local nonprofits. Park has been recognized by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber with the Community Involvement Award for their outstanding investment of time and resources in giving back to local communities.
