17th Annual Key Event Registration Now Available - Event to be held September 11th

Make plans today to join members of the West Chester/Liberty community at the 17th Annual Key Event. Presented by Clark-Theders Insurance Agency, Inc. and North Ridge Realty Group, the event will begin at the Savannah Center at 5:00PM. A special 9/11 Memorial Ceremony will be held at 5:30PM.   The annual event will feature a silent and live auction, basket raffle, live auction raffle and much, much more. Upon arrival, guests will randomly pick a key that opens a miniature door to reveal  their dining location -  one of the 25 host homes in the West Chester/Liberty area. Each home will feature a talented chef who will prepare a wonderful meal for each attendee. After dinner, all guests are invited to an after-party featuring music by the Modulators at the home of the Foundation's Board Chair Patti Alderson and her husband Dick. Operation Gratitude Gift Drive to be Held September 11th

The Community Foundation West Chester/Liberty in conjunction with the Advisory Board Members of the Youth in Philanthropy Fund will host the 7th Annual Operation Gratitude Gift Drive on Saturday, September 11th.
Community members are invited to participate by dropping off items at the UPS truck located in the Voice of America Shopping Center at the corner of Tylersville and Cox roads.  YIP members will be collecting items from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Items collected will be shipped to service men and women serving all over the world.

Items needed include: DVDs, CDs, Batteries (all sizes), Computer Flash Drives and Webcams, Headsets (earpiece and microphone),  Beanie Babies/Webkinz, Small Novelty Items,  Disposable Cameras, Prepaid Phone Cards, Travel-Size Board Games, Handheld electronic games, Bandana Coolers/Cool-Ties, Mini-Battery-operated Fans,  Hand and Foot Warmers, Single Serving Boxes of Cold Cereal; Individual Packets of Hot Cereal, Commercially wrapped, individual packets of Trail Mix, Beef Jerky, Nuts, Energy Bars, Sunflower Seeds, Candy Ready To Eat Tuna or Chicken Salad kits, Boxes of Girl Scout Cookies, Packets of Powdered Hot or Cold Beverages, commercially sealed Lip Balm, Roll-on deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes,  Individual packets of moist towelettes, Travel Size containers of Foot Powder, Socks, Screen Printed T-Shirts, Baseball Style Caps, Knit Hats and Gloves, Knit/Crochet Scarves;  Neck Gators, Holiday Greeting Cards (blank), Unsealed personal cards and letters, Used Cell Phones, Video Games and Systems, IPODs, PDAs, Ink-jet Cartridges.

The gifts will arrive just in time for the holiday season. “Hopefully our gifts will provide comfort to the troops as they celebrate the holiday season away from their families.” said Melissa Benedict, Vice President, Donor Services. The Foundation will also accept cash donations to buy additional items for the troops. 3 little Halos Fund Presents Donation of Sparky's Hazard House to West Chester Fire Department

The 3 little Halos Fund recently awarded the West Chester Fire Department with a new Sparky Hazard House. The learning tool, valued at $15,000, is geared to educate young children about hazards, such as fire, in one's home. The 3 little Halos Fund was created by Jim and Susan Butler after a 2007 fire claimed the lives of their 3 beloved grandchilren...Aubrey, Alex and Braden. Foundation Awards $15,000 in Grant Awards
 
The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty's Board of Directors recently awarded $15,000 in grants to non-profit organizations serving the West Chester and Liberty Township area. The Community Grants Fund is supported with proceeds from the Key Event, Community Golf Classic, Uno's Dough Raiser and Shamrock Shuffle.
 
Grant awards were presented to:     
•    $2,500 was awarded to the Hearing, Speech & Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati to support their Charitable Services Program that assists disadvantaged families in overcoming obstacles to better communication.
•    $2,500 was granted to Focus on Youth, Inc. for their Community Education & Awareness Initiative that recruits foster parents for youth 10 years of age and older.
•    $5,000 was awarded to The Butler County School  Supply Coalition for their Kits to Kids Campaign to provide school supplies to low-income students within Lakota Schools.
•    $2,500 was awarded to the Boys & Girls Club of Hamilton, Inc. to fund their West Chester/Liberty Summer Outreach Program that transports youth from our community to the Club during the summer months.
•    $2,500 was granted to Citizens Against Domestic Violence to continue their Dating Violence:101 presentation within Lakota Schools to provide education about the dangers of domestic violence.
 
A special Thank You to the Foundation's Grants Committee led by Chair, Marty Davis and past Chair Mary McConnell. Additional members include: Brent Arter, Mary Haglage, Debbie Jones, Pam Krieger, Lew Ann Lawhorn, Rick Prinz and Mike Zimmer.


The Community Foundation of West Chester/ Liberty makes charitable giving easy, flexible and effective by connecting donors to the priorities they care about to meet the needs of our communities. Currently, the Foundation manages nearly $6 million in charitable assets, made up of over 100 funds established by individuals, families, and business. The Foundation has helped to facilitate $2.2 million back to our community.
