Julia Ellen Burnett Scholarship

Julia was born on April 21, 2006 with Trisomy 18, a rare chromosomal anomaly that the medical community describes as “incompatible with life”. Despite Julia’s prognosis, her parents were blessed to share six precious days with their beautiful daughter before she went home to be with God.

Although her life here on earth was short, Julia is still blessing lives in ways we could never have imagined. She continues to have a tremendous and lasting impact on the hearts of family and friends. Julia’s family and friends will be forever thankful for the special gift of her sweet life!

From the very beginning, Julia’s parents had a lifetime of dreams for her. It is now their desire to celebrate Julia’s life and continue her legacy by helping other young people realize some of their own dreams.

The Julia Ellen Burnett Scholarship will be awarded to a hard-working and well-rounded student. A minimum accumulative GPA of 3.0 as well as a strong background in school and community involvement will be required. Other considerations include volunteer and employment history and financial need. Applicants must submit 3 letters of recommendation: One must be from a teacher or guidance counselor and the other 2 must be from a professional relationship (e.g. teacher, guidance counselor, employer, clergy, community leader, etc.) Letters from family members will not be considered.
